12-year-old Dakota Fanning- "Hounddog"

                            12-year-old Dakota Fanning- "Hounddog"

This one seems so simple, I can't figure out the logic here.

OK- You want to do a movie that you feel is important about child rape. Wouldn't you use an 18 year old actress, who looks young, to play the role..??

Why would you place a 12 year old actress into a role where she is seen in her underwear, many times in the movie. Then put her through a rape scene..??

This one just really creeps me out.

"Hounddog" is the story of Lewellen, a girl played by 12-year-old Dakota Fanning, who is growing up in the 1960s South. She is a free-spirit obsessed with Elvis Presley and has little supervision by her abusive father and alcoholic grandmother. And she is raped.

I did a post a little while ago in which I talked about possible future Hollywood movies. I predicted that a pedophile would be used as a theme in future Hollywood movies. I fear that we haven't seen the last of this topic.

I believe Hollywood is looking for the free publicity from a controversy. Because sane, normal human beings know that you do not take a 12 year old and place her on the screen. Have her dance around in her underwear. Wiggle her hips to Elvis' "Hounddog." And then proceed to rape her.

What the F**K is wrong with these people. Find an 18 year old actress who looks young.

To me, this movie is less about a child rape, and more about adults running a movie company- (Yes you Robert Redford and Sundance) Adults who have no moral compass.

And Redford wants to lecture the president on "choices."

Better look into your own back yard Robby…

I agree with you entirely that children should not be placed in this situation.

However to Dakota's credit if you have listened to her in interviews she is not a child. I mean to say that she is not a child mentally, with the exception of her voice when she speaks about things she comes off as an adult. Dakota is extremely intelligent almost to a scary level, I believe she wanted to do this movie and I don't think she will regret it which is the real issue here.

This movie will stand to be very controversial and I probably wont be seeing it. Its unfortunate that all and all with our society I bet this will be a huge step forward in little Dakotas career. The fact is she has every right to do this movie.

    Great Article

    Cheers

I just don't feel right about it at all. I have seen the trailer of it and no, I don't think she should be playing this part at all.[OHMY][THUMBDOWN][MAD]

[MAD][MAD] This is just another example of "hollywood" having NO morals and can do anything they want to ,,, as for this "CHILD" 12 years old is a CHILD , Where is the Child Welfare Agency , that should be taking that 12 year old CHILD out of the (so called) HOME she is living in, ,, Where is the ACLU ,who should be protecting this 12year old CHILD , and a 12 year old CHILD has no legal right to make this (so called) movie , she can not sign a contract to make a movie, so her (so called ) mother had to sign it ,,, the (so called) mother should be charged with CHILD endangerment ,and lose custody of this 12 year old CHILD, this little 12 year old girl is going to need a lot of counseling as she grows older, some people do not think this will harm her ,,, WAKE UP this is NOT NORMAL,,,, sorry for running on A.R ,but someone pushed my button, by trying to give a 12 year old rights she does not have !!!!!!![MAD][MAD][MAD][MAD][MAD][MAD][THUMBDOWN]

Well, being relatively liberal, I suppose I shouldn't even be here on your blog site and didn't think I would ever be, but I totally agree with you that this 12-year-old shouldn't have been allowed or asked to do this particular movie! I don't think that she would be allowed to see it so what is the point of having her in the movie. This, to me, is equivalent to using children in porn. It is unethical. Hey,
You are welcome to comment here anytime. Even when you think I'm an idiot for the things I say. You can leave a comment that says: "You are an idiot.."

This topic goes beyond liberal and conservative. You are 100% correct. IT is wrong to use a 12 year old girl in this manner.

I took a shot at Robert Redford only because it is his company that is pushing this movie. Robert Redford appeared in one of my all time favorite movies- "Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid."

I'm sick about it. He does great things with his "Sundance Film School."
Then Redford promotes this movie with a 12 year old being seen in her underwear- and then gets raped.

    Thanks for the comment
