For the tenth day in a row, it is dangerous to be WHITE at night in France. I have put off doing a post about the violence in France, mainly because I make fun of France every chance I get. I hate to kick someone when they are down. There is no sport in it.
However, there is an important lesson here. The lesson is that appeasement never works. It just puts off the inevitable for a while. Liberals are very fond of appeasement. It has become France's motto. "Just turn your head, don't say anything, don't look the bad guys in the eyes. They will go away. THIS DOESN'T WORK!
In protest.. Citizens of France hold a silent march. "A silent march?"
Silent because the French do not want to offend anyone.
This whole thing started because the French police were chasing two young people. The two Muslim youths ran into a power substation and were electrocuted. Clearly an accident. This started the riots. Bigger problems lurk here.
As in liberal New Orleans, the French liberals believe that if you over-tax the rich and give welfare checks to the poor, you have done a righteous deed. Warehousing poor people, living on welfare, in depressed neighborhoods. This creates a hotbed for violence. You know what they say about idle hands..
Whenever a conservative suggests getting able-bodied people off of welfare and out in the workforce, we are shouted back. "Those neo-cons do not care about the poor.. They only care about the rich.. They want to take away welfare." Actually.. we do care about the poor. That is exactly why we want them to work.
I am convinced that many liberals, who speak the loudest about the poor, have never been poor. For if you were ever poor, then you would know welfare enslaves people. It is the poor bastard who goes out and gets the job at Burger King for $5.50 an hour. Fast forward 5 years and that guy is manager of Burger King- second shift. In the daytime he attends collage. Fast forward five years and he has entered society as a middleclass American.
The liberal solution.. Tax the rich even more! Then you can hand out welfare checks of all kinds. Penalize those of us who do well so you can reward those who do not. Create a whole generation of people who do not understand the value of a dollar and the worth of a HARD day's work. People who do not value YOUR property. Do not understand right from wrong.
These are the problems facing France. Years of appeasement coupled with welfare. France has painted a very pleasing picture of what THEY think they are. But now we see behind that pretty picture. Never more should liberal France dictate morals to America.
We should feel sorry for France. Because they are years ahead of us. In liberalism. This is a path we must not take.
You cannot appease evil deeds and warehouse the poor in ghettos. Those who do evil things should be brought to justice. Those who can work.. Should.AR.

I wasn't really referring to minimum wage in the post. In fact, the starting wage for a grill cook in say.. Cleveland, Ohio is $8.00 per hour if you want to get technical. REASON.. There are so many fast food restaurants packed into a small-condensed area, people were job-hopping from one restaurant to another for a $.50 cent raise. If you offered $5.15 per hour to an experienced line cook, he would laugh at you. But I do not expect you to know this stuff.
The whole raising minimum wage thing.. I think I went over this with Howard ("It's my America too.. Damn it!!) a while back. If raising minimum wage solved anything. Why do we keep having to raise it? Raise the price of labor, the price of goods goes up. You are right back to where you started.
You can artificially value a job at any rate you want to. But it doesn't change the WORTH of the work being done. Take the guy who puts those twisty-tie things on bread wrappers. (I know it is probably done by machine.) You give him a minimum wage raise from $5 per hour to $30 per hour.. You will have one happy bread tying "somm-bitch." But this will not last. Soon the price of goods will rise back to where the bread-tying guy is at the bottom again. Just barely getting by. Because we didn't change the worth of his job.
But if we pull back on government restrictions. Use trade tariffs to balance out foreign competition and cut some HUGE taxes. These companies can grow. More bread companies open up. They compete with each other. They will all need bread-tying guys. The worth of his job increases and the price of goods goes down.
The bread-tying guy gets an actual pay raise. Not a fake one...AR..
Your so right about the wage thing. Look at it another way, a college grad, age 21, applies for an exec training position at XYZ, is told that the job pays 45Gs....the college grad gets pissed because HE/SHE is a GRAD and demands 100K at least!!!
I laugh at them when they come into my HR department for an interview....NOBODY wants to work for anything less than Dick Grasso money....God forbid they get all tired and stuff.....Liberal as well as conservs alike......the Lib dumbass thinking always seems to creep into peoples mind when they WANT something for NOTHING.

The Muslims do not want the French police to go in the Muslim neighborhoods. This is bad. But this goes along with appeasement. This cannot be a new thing. The French had to see this coming.
Many people are saying this has little to do with poor neighborhoods but I cannot see has it doesn't. France's unemployment rate is double ours at 10%. BUT.. The Muslim population in France has a 30% unemployment rate. That is almost 1 out of every three people that is unemployed. You would have to go back to America's great depression to find figures like that.
I do agree with talk show hosts that this has a lot to do with border control. The French have been very open.
We must also secure our borders. America has to stop the flood of illegals into this country.
The young people rioting today are French citizens a product of the French schools and culture. With this education they are aware they are second class citizens and they are re-enacting the 1789 rebellion to establish liberty fraternity and equality in the nation some people call "the cradle of liberty."
In the Soviet Union the corrupt leaders realized they needed to educate the masses to develop the engineers and scientists to compete with (defeat) the USA. The program backfired, as most Russians learned how to read and how to think for themselves. The Communists fell from power.
