Romney exits campaign

February 7, 2008 / by AngryRepublican

Catching many people off guard, Mitt Romney ends his campaign bid.

Some might scoff and say Romney was running out of money. That would be a lie. Romney is rich and money was heading into his campaign.

Some might say Romney didn't have a chance to win. That too would be a lie. With many states left to vote and the "waves of hate" that McCain was creating, anything could have happen.

I take Mitt Romney at his word. He felt that he had not done as well as he should and it would be selfish to continue. By staying in the race, he would further divide the Conservative Party and make it easier for Hillary or Obama to win.

I say that it was not YOU, Mitt Romney, who is dividing the Conservative Party. It is McCain.

But that is now water under the bridge.

Romney's positive speech before CPAC

After listening to Romney and watching this display of a gentleman's sacrifice, I know I picked the best candidate.

(I just didn't pick the winner.)

Something stood out about Romney. I picked him way back when Fred Thompson, Rudy, Duncan Hunter, and the like were still in the race.

But that is over…

I have always been an optimist. And I am still optimistic today.

With Romney gone and Huckabee and McCain running a "friendly" campaign, they can focus on attacking the democrats. All the while, Obama and Hillary will be fighting each other.

We republicans are sitting pretty right now. (Except for the fact that you hate McCain.)

I know many conservatives hate the fact that John McCain will represent the Republican Party. I do not like it either. Life doesn't always give you prime rib and Champaign. Sometimes you get a box of rotten bananas. But you do not quit. You keep going. You take those rotten bananas and you sell them to a zoo and make some money.

Some conservatives say they will vote for Hillary Clinton. I could never do that. We have many senior judges sitting on the bench who are close to leaving. Letting Hillary pick the judges is crazy talk. Why would you let the democrats control the White House, the congress and the justice system? That is insane and I will never (again) "vote for spite."

Some conservatives say they will just stay home and not vote.

Can I ask you a question..??

OK, you do not like McCain. We get that. But why are you punishing the local and state leaders who are running for office?

The least you can do is show up and vote for your local city officials, your state representatives, your senators, and any governors who might be running.

Do not punish these people just because you hate John McCain.

See, some of us conservatives are not giving up. We are going to fight on. We will need every single conservative local official. Every republican representative, and every conservative senator you can send to Washington to keep fighting liberalism.

Hey, I would love to have you join the conservative movement. But I understand if you would like to give up. I understand because I was once in your shoes.

There was this president named George H. Bush. He said he wasn't going to raise taxes, but he did. He caved under the pressure of the democrats.

This pissed us conservatives off and we vowed to get revenge on those republicans.

So a bunch of us conservatives voted for this guy named Ross Perot. Guess what happened?

Neither Ross Perot nor Bush won that election. Bill Clinton won. (The vote was- Clinton 43%, Perot 16%, Bush 41%)

Unfortunately, Bill Clinton raised taxes. He let our military go to hell. Osama bin Laden declared war on America and terrorists attacked the World Trade Towers and we did nothing. Oh, also- Clinton hired liberal judges.

That Clinton guy stayed for 8 years and his little buddy- Al Gore, almost won and we would have had democrats for 12- hell maybe even 16 years.

Life teaches you lessons. (And that party split on Ross Perot in 1992 was one hell of a lesson that I will never forget.)

Together we are strong.

Divided, we all lose.

(note)

This will be my last post on McCain or the republican side of the election, for a while. I think we all need move forward. (Wherever we think "forward" might be?)

However, this would be a great time to pick on liberals.

Coming Saturday…

    They sure are dropping.

We no longer have much of a choice.

I really do not care much for this system we have where a couple of states pick the president. Here in Pennsylvania, I no longer have a choice.

I feel like I'm living in some third world dictatorship and I have no right to vote for the person I wanted.

    Wow- 81!

That was a total shock to me because McCain was getting so much bad press, I thought Romney would stay in longer.

I too have been cheated out of helping to nominate the Republican nominee, as the Texas primary is not held until March 4th.  Even if my candidate didn't win, I deserve the right to state my opinion through my vote, but alas, that won't happen.  I'll probably vote - if Mitt Romney's name is still on the ballot I will still vote for him, but I will not vote McCain or Huckabee just because their names are there.  I will vote for any local, county, or state officials that are there.

I agree that in November everyone should vote - even if you cannot vote for any Presidential candidate you should still vote for your representatives and senators, both state and federal.  Politics IS local, and it was our bombarding of our representatives and senators in the Spring that kept that idiotic amnesty bill from being passed - thus taking any power out of the hand of the President to sign it into law.  I say we make sure that those are the people who are representing our views.
